Product Description

Protect-a-Bike™ is the high-security version of Trimetals’ all-metal motorcycle garage, providing complete and secure storage and protection for your motorcycle and riding accessories at an affordable price. It can also be used as a high security garden shed, ideal for storing large and valuable outdoor items including garden furniture and machinery, tools, play equipment, ladders, bikes and more. Protect-a-Bike 960 is the largest of Trimetals’ high security motorcycle garage range, measuring 1910mm in width (6’2”) x 2775mm in length (9’1”), and designed to store two full-size machines side by side. Protect-a-Bike is available in three sizes, with the smaller 940 and 950 models also available from My Secure Garden. Protect-a-Bike has achieved Police Preferred Specification status from Secured by Design (SBD), the official UK police security initiative, and has been tested and certified by the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) and awarded the LPS1175 Security Rating B3 (SR2) for its high security features and its strength and resistance to break-in attacks. Protect-a-Bike has also been featured and “recommended” by several UK motorcycle magazines including Bike Magazine, Ride Magazine, Motorcycle Sport and Leisure and Performance Bikes Magazine. Discounted insurance may also be offered by some insurers and brokers for motorcycles that are stored in Protect-a-Bike garages.

Ultra-secure and maintenance-free motorcycle storage

Protect-a-Bike 960 is manufactured in the UK using PVC coated galvanised steel, which is fire-resistant, maintenance fee and guaranteed for 25 years. Protect-a-Bike incorporates a comprehensive range of advanced security features and anti-theft devices to help keep your prized two-wheel possession (or other valuable outdoor objects and machinery) secure and protected from thieves. Protect-a-Bike is freestanding and designed to be fixed in situ by being bolted down to a hard, flat, level concrete base from the inside, enabling your valuable motorcycle and riding accessories to be securely locked away and protected from theft and vandalism. The unit is windowless which reduces the scope for thieves making forced entry and keeps your valuable machine and riding gear fully enclosed and out of site.

Other design & security features

The unit comes supplied with a heavy-duty ground anchor (Sold Secure Gold rated) and a 1.5m security chain with padlock (both Thatcham Approved) for securing your motorcycle or outdoor machinery inside the garage. It also features a stainless-steel hasp and padlock on the front doors (in addition to the standard door bolting system) and a battery-operated PIR alarm. All external bolts are fitted with lock nuts to prevent panels from being removed from the outside. The Protect-a-Bike 960 garage features wide double doors, ensuring easy access, and sufficient width to walk your motorcycle straight inside. The doors can be placed at either end of the garage, depending upon where you choose to site the unit. Protect-a-Bike has a traditional pent roof design and ventilation slots in the front fascia above the doors which maintain airflow inside and minimise condensation without compromising security.

Options & upgrades / Simple DIY construction

The Protect-a-Bike high security garages have been designed to be simple and safe to put up with only basic DIY experience. The components are supplied in a convenient flat pack and is very simple to construct, and their precision engineering ensures that all the parts fit together perfectly. The unit is supplied with easy-to-understand assembly instructions and Trimetals has also created a handy video to guide you through the process step-by step. The assembly video can be viewed here. Trimetals recommends assembly of the unit is undertaken by a minimum of two people. Protect-a-Bike 960 is available in a choice of three colours: olive green, two-tone green or anthracite. A range of accessories are available for the unit including wooden flooring, an 8’ work bench and shelving.

Recommended Base / Estimated Delivery Time

The recommended base for Protect-a-Bike 960 a solid concrete slab (ideally 310cm (10’) x 220cm (7’2”) and at least 100mm thick) laid on a flat gravel bed, with polythene sheeting placed under or on top of the concrete to help prevent moisture rising inside and causing condensation. Solid concrete paving slabs laid on a flat gravel bed or concrete “point” foundations can also provide an effective basing solution. ‘Spirafix’ metal ground anchors are recommended if locating the shed directly onto grass. The unit is supplied with “Thunderbolt” fasteners for bolting the shed down securely into the concrete base or slabs. Please note: Internal components pictured are optional extras and not included in the basic price. The estimated delivery time on this product is 4-6 weeks.

FAQs
What is SBD / Police Preferred Specification?

Secured by Design (SBD) is the official police security initiative that works to improve the security of buildings and their surroundings.

SBD’s product based accreditation scheme – the Police Preferred Specification - provides a recognised standard for all security products that can deter and reduce crime.

My Secure Garden has carefully selected some of the attack resistant crime prevention products which have achieved Police Preferred Specification.

SBD is the only way for companies to obtain police recognition for security-related products in the UK.

What is the LPCB?

Established more than 150 years ago, the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) is a globally recognised third-party certification body.

Part of BRE, the LPCB has worked with industry and insurers since 1868 to set the standards needed to make sure that fire and security products and services perform effectively.

The LPCB’s Loss Prevention Standards (LPS) are widely recognised and applied in fire and security sectors around the world. The LPCB has produced a specific standard for standalone padlocks (LPS 1645) based on a testing regime which focusses on their level of manual attack resistance.

The LPCB also offers third-party certification to confirm that products and services have met, and will continue to meet, these standards.
